On 27 October 2025, the Business Registration Service (BRS Kenya), with support from the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA), had convened a week-long workshop at Sarovar Hotels in Nakuru to assess and strengthen the Beneficial Ownership (BO) Register maintenance protocols.

This forum provides space for stakeholders to:

Review current workflows and data governance frameworks Identify legal and operational gaps Share best practices for register management Develop an actionable roadmap to enhance transparency, accuracy, and security of the BO RegisterÂ
Through collaboration, innovation, and dialogue, the workshop aims to advance Kenya’s efforts in promoting corporate accountability, anti-money laundering (AML), and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT).

This initiative serves as part of the Kenya Institutional Strengthening Program (KISP) which is supported by the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
