ELGIA in collaboration with the Business Registration Service (BRS), convened a high-level stakeholder engagement forum

On 7th November 2025, the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa (ELGIA), in collaboration with the Business Registration Service (BRS), convened a high-level stakeholder engagement forum at Mercure Hotel, Upper Hill, Nairobi. The event brought together key professional bodies including the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS), and the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA).

The forum aimed to:

 

• Enhance awareness of Beneficial Ownership (BO) information filing and compliance.

• Clarify the purpose and significance of BO disclosures.

• Share progress and regulatory updates.

• Prepare stakeholders for upcoming BOI compliance requirements for trusts.

 

This initiative contributes to Kenya’s broader efforts to promote transparency in corporate ownership and combat corruption, money laundering, and terrorism financing—aligned with commitments made at the 2016 Anti-Corruption Summit in London.
